Using activated carbon in fermentation locks is a very effective way to eliminate odor from the fermenter. This fermentation lock has both a section with liquid lock in the lower part and the top part can be filled with granular activated carbon.

Tip! 
If you ferment a large batch and need more capactiy of the carbon filter you can extend this fermentation lock by taping a 40 mm pipe 10 cm long onto the fermentation lock.
